Résumé

The cryogenic system is a Joule-Thomson expansion cooler precooled below the helium 4 inversion temperature to 20 K by a Stirling two-stage cryocooler. As a comparison, the detector response was also evaluated in a microphonically quiescent and electromagnetically cleaner helium 4 cryostat. These measurements have conclusively demonstrated the feasibility of operating far infrared photoconductive detectors in conjunction with a 4 K cryocooler in a SAFIRE-type satellite experiment.
