Introduction to practical fluid flow.

Résumé

Whether it is crude oil, liquid industrial waste containing solid particles or jelly at a food processing plant, the costly flow stoppage of product through pipes can be minimized with methods presented in this book, which has a contemporary approach to demonstrating meaningful solutions to practical operating and design problems. It deals with the transportation and handling of incompressible fluids and provides a uniform treatment for all types of fluids, from simple Newtonian fluids, to non-Newtonian slurries with complex rheological properties. A CD-ROM is included providing a well-designed computational 'fluids toolbox'. Extract from the table of contents: flow of fluids in piping systems (pressure drop in pipes and channels; the friction factor; calculation of pressure gradient and flow rate); interaction between fluids and particles; transportation of slurries; non-Newtonian slurries; sedimentation and thickening.
