Résumé

The origin of the International Institute of Refrigeration is outlined and all 22 IIR congresses organized during its 100 years of activity are mentioned. On that basis, Polish activity within the IIR is presented and particularly: participation of IIRs congresses, awards received, conferences organized, functions and duties, and present membership of IIR commissions. The advantages for the Polish refrigeration sector are pointed out.
