Résumé

The paper presents a thermodynamic comparison between two technical solutions for providing cooling and heating to the same group of buildings by the use of geothermal heat pumps. The first solution consists of a classical open-loop heat pump system. Two extraction wells provide 500 m3/day water extracted from an aquifer. After leaving the (reversible) heat pumps, the water is injected back to the aquifer through a single well. The overall annual SPF of this system is 2.81, and the primary energy savings with respect to Qusable factor is 11%. The second technical solution consists of a combined polarized ATES system and solar heat pumps. In this case, solar panels provide thermal energy for the heat pumps evaporators, and their condensers are cooled by the water leaving the condensers of the (reversible) heat pumps. In summer time, when the reversible heat pump works as refrigeration equipment, condensation heat from the buildings and from the solar heat pumps is injected into the warm well, whose temperature rises up to temperatures of 23°C. In winter time, heat is extracted from the warm well, (water with an average temperature of 16…19°C). The energy fluxes on all circuits are controlled through a 300 m3 buffer tank. The overall annual SPF for this system is 4.48, and the primary energy savings, with respect to Qusable factor, is 41.5%, accompanied by a major decrease of greenhouse gases production. Heat injection during summer helps balancing the system due to heating and the cooling demand, under Romanian climate conditions.
