La maîtrise de l'infection dans les hôpitaux grâce à la ventilation mécanique.

The control of hospital infection with mechanical ventilation.

Type d'article : Article

Résumé

The article states that the primary objective of infection control is the prevention of spread of infection by patients, staff and visitors. The authors concentrate on isolation rooms fitted with 'source' protection equipment (negatively pressurized) in dedicated rooms. This is contrasted with positively pressurized or 'protective' isolation. The paper outlines the services with which isolation rooms should be equipped and the layout and operation of the mechanical ventilation system serving them. Measures to ensure continuous air pressure negativity are given. In addition, ante rooms for isolation rooms are considered. The authors consider briefly other methods of infection control - ultraviolet germicidal irradiation and personnel protective equipment.
