Résumé

Sustainable solutions commit to environmental protection in a long term or better say meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Today about 80% of the global warming impact of refrigeration systems result from energy consumption (indirect emissions); about 20% are direct emissions due to leakages. The European F-gas regulation (in force since July 2007) limits leakage of synthetic refrigerants to 1-3%, depending on charge. We will see in the future whether this is practically possible or just a theory. Refrigeration systems consume about 15% of all electricity worldwide (in the UK and Germany about 14%). Therefore, reducing the energy consumption of refrigeration systems has an important effect on reducing global warming, this can be increased when leakage is avoided!
