Les possibilités du cycle frigorifique à air dans le transport frigorifique routier.

The potential for air cycle refrigeration in refrigerated road transport.

Résumé

The analysis shows that the outline specification, based on typical transport equipment which is currently used, can be achieved by the use of air cycle refrigeration, albeit at an apparently lower COP than is thought to be achieved by conventional vapour compression systems. However, the power demands at the design performance duties can be met readily by the engines incorporated into existing systems. It is considered by the author that a more detailed study should be undertaken, in which the physical design and performance of appropriate turbo machinery is studied, possibly based on the development of motor vehicle turbochargers, bearing in mind the need for a commercially viable product. In parallel, the physical size of any package, taking into account the types of heat exchanger required, must be assessed, together with a review of the best methods of achieving temperature controls and variations of duty.
