Résumé
This paper presents a new experimental apparatus for measurement of the local heat transfer coefficient during condensation inside a circular 0.8 mm diameter minichannel. The heat transfer coefficient is obtained from the direct measurement of the saturation and wall temperatures while the heat flux is derived from the water temperature profile. In this respect, the test section has been designed so as to reduce thermal disturbances and experimental uncertainty. The design of the new test section has been performed by adopting CFD modelling: the simulation results obtained from the Fluent code are reported in the paper and have been crucial in the on-going search for the optimal design solution. Furthermore, preliminary tests on prototypes were conducted before realizing the final test section. A brief look into design and construction of the test rig is reported in the paper. The apparatus has been designed both for condensation and vaporization experimental tests, in a wide range of operating conditions and for a wide selection of refrigerants, both halogenated and natural.
