Résumé

The Island of Taiwan is in the subtropical zone and the central part of the island (such as Tai Chung City, the experimental site of this paper, the average winter temperature is 17.6°C with a mean relative humidity of 74.6% during the experiment.) has a rainy season that lasts from December to February of the following year during the winter monsoon. In most bedrooms during the winter in the subtropical zone, only the ventilation is provided to save energy; however it causes increased humidity and indoor discomfort instead. Different positions and levels of flow rate for the air conditioner in the bedroom obviously affect the sleeping quality and living standards. In this study, the standard operation procedures of field measurement organizing from latest international standards were adopted to seek the optimal procedures for applying to the indoor thermal-comfort evaluation. computational fluid dynamics software was also utilized to compare with the measuring results and evaluated the effect by four different positions of air conditioner and inlet air velocity in the room. Finally, the thermal comfort indices (PMV and PPD), local thermal discomfort and indoor environmental parameters including the temperature, humidity and air velocity were thoroughly studied to assess the living environment and the residents' thermal comfort during sleep.
