Résumé

The method of increasing the capacity at the already-installed district cooling system is suggest-ed when the cooling load exceeds that of the original design. A method of increasing by 25.3 % the cold heat amount being transported is suggested, which is done by lowering to 1? the temperature of the chilled water, which is now 3?. This chilled water is supplied by connecting the new ice-slurry system in serial with already-installed system in the plant, without having to install a new cold heat transporting pipe. In addition, a new horizontal ice-slurry maker is developed. The overall heat transfer coefficient is measured as 3.86 kW/m2?, when propylene-glycol 7% (with volume base) solution is trans-formed into ice slurry, with a lab-scale ice slurry maker of which the capacity is 5.25 kW. A hori-zontal ice slurry maker of 1,346 kW is also developed for use in the large capacity district cooling system. An evaporator of the centrifugal compressor and an ice slurry maker are built in one body. R134a is used as refrigerant. The water is chilled down through the heat change with the ice slurry produced from the ice slurry maker. This temperature change of the water is measured and the re-frigerating capacity is calculated. The resulting COP is 3.92.
