Résumé

The result of the small bowel transplantation is not satisfactory as the kidney, liver, pancreas or heart. A simple and reliable preservation method is lacking. In clinical cases, simple cold storage in University of Wisconsin (UW) solution is the most practical method. However, regarding animal model using simple cold storage in UW solution, the small bowel can be preserved in good condition for up to 24 hours. A longer preservation time is necessary. Recently the authors have developed a cavitary two-layer cold storage method, which supplies sufficient oxygen, makes an oxygenation of the graft during preservation and keeps high levels of tissue adenine nucleotides. Rat small bowel preservation time increases up to 48 hours. In this study, the authors demonstrate the utility of the cavitary two-layer method using UW solution and discuss the ability of application to clinical small bowel transplantation.
