Résumé

The techniques used for vitrification of water and the glass transition temperatures observed for the glass formed were reviewed. The techniques used include water-vapour deposition on cold substrates, hyperquenching of water droplets, confinement of water within nm-diameter channels, and pressurization of ice at low temperatures. Different glass-transition temperatures have been reported; the typical ones are around 110, 135, 160, and 200 K. It is stressed that the structures and properties of the glasses are potentially different depending on the ways of the formation and that more detailed studies are required to relate the circumstances of the water with the properties of the respective glasses.
