Meubles de vente énergétiquement efficaces : stratégies de conception.

Design strategies for energy-efficient display case design.

Résumé

Optimal design of supermarket display cases required simultaneous optimization of the evaporator and the air handling system. This paper summarizes key features of a recently developed and validated evaporator design tool, and its interactions with the air curtain and internal airflow paths within the case. A multi-module approach to evaporator design is shown to offer great flexibility for controlling local frost deposition patterns to prevent occlusion of the air flow path, while maintaining a nearly constant free flow area throughout. Each module has an optimal fin staging and pitch, as well as other characteristics to achieve the desired local frost deposition patterns over a range of operating conditions. The value of using variable-speed fans to maintain air curtain integrity between defrost events is demonstrated, along with the value of reducing infiltration and altering the fraction of air flowing over the shelves vs. that dedicated to the curtain. Quantitative evaluation of these tradeoffs suggests strategies for minimizing overall energy consumption of the display case as a whole.
