Résumé

An integrated solvent separation/open-cycle absorption refrigeration process is described and its thermodynamic and economic performance is presented for a case-study application. The case-study application considers a refrigerated lean oil absorption process for recovering both propane and benzene, toluene, xylene (BTX) from light gases. Simulations showed that the capital cost of the novel integrated lean oil/refrigeration process was approximately 23% less than that of the equivalent cryogenic distillation process with marginally lower fuel consumption. The results show that the novel integrated lean oil/refrigeration process could be competitive in some applications. Further research is recommended.
