Résumé

Based on a systematic method of looking for optimal working media for compression heat pumps, a database of 940 substances was screened. Out of this number, three substances emerged as possible replacements for commonly used CFC compression heat pump media. These substances, ethyl chloride, ethyl bromide and propyl chloride, compare favourably with most CFC working fluids in terms of the coefficient of performance, the volumetric heat storage and the pressure ratio. They do not exhibit strong toxicity and seem to be ecologically agreeable. The applicability of these substances was tested with a simulation programme for three cases: namely, with the temperature of the heat source at 20°C and a boost of 50°C, and with the temperature of the heat source at 60 and 90°C and a boost of 60°C. Ethyl chloride is applicable to the lower and medium temperature cases, whereas ethyl bromide and propyl chloride may be used for the medium and high temperature cases.
