Résumé

To improve the performances of AMRR prototypes, it is very important to optimize and deeply clarify the influence of several parameters such as the demagnetizing factor, the packaging of the MCE material, the AMR frequency, the flow rate and the synchronization of the magnetization and fluid phases. In order to study the influence of the above mentioned magnetic and heat and mass transfer parameters, a new permanent magnet (0.8 T Halbach cylinder) based device has been built. It has a compact shape adapted to laboratory scale specimen. The flow rate is controlled with a stepper actuator up to 23 ml/s and the magnetizing cycles waveforms, regulated with a linear electric motor, can be varied in shape and frequency up to approximately 1 Hz. The tests have been carried out with different flow rates, frequencies and fluid volumes. A maximum temperature span of 7.8°C has been achieved. Further tests are planned with different materials, magnetic cycle shapes and durations, packaging and fluids.
