Résumé

In refrigeration systems, lubricating oil can be entrained into the ejector during compressor operation and significantly influences the internal flow characteristics and ejector performance. A transient heterogeneous mixture model is developed for a transcritical CO₂ ejector with three-phase CO₂/PAG lubricant flow, and the
computational fluid dynamics–population balance model (CFD–PBM) is employed to study the flow structures and Sauter mean diameter (SMD) distribution of oil droplet. The results indicate that SMD is closely related to fluid velocity, velocity gradient, and turbulent kinetic energy. Higher flow velocity, larger velocity gradient, and stronger turbulent kinetic energy promote oil droplet breakup, resulting in a decrease in SMD. When the motive flow inlet conditions change abruptly, the mass flow rate exhibits a step change, whereas the SMD of oil droplet exhibits a distinct time-lag behavior. Furthermore, as the oil circulation ratio increases, both entrainment ratio and effective entrainment ratio decline, while droplet coalescence is enhanced, resulting in an increase in SMD within the ejector.
