Résumé

An experimental study relating generation of continuous solid sorption cooling in a single adsorbent tube has been described. Quick periodic pressurisation and depressurisation of an adsorbent column generates differential cooling between the two ends of the column. Based on the critical review of the previous research findings, however, few modifications have been found necessary in the existing process design. Experiments conducted earlier have indicated that significant cooling is available within activated carbon inside the bed. In order to retrieve this cooling, system has been modified to a regenerative type cooling cycle. On the basis of theoretical recommendation, carbon dioxide-activated carbon pair has been chosen for the present study aiming at cooling for near room temperature applications. Results not only indicate noticeable improvement from its previous design, they seem to be quite promising.
