Résumé

CO2 heat pump water heater exhibits excellent performance comparing to conventional refrigerants heat pump because of better temperature glide matching when it operates in the transcritical region. The gas cooler heat transfer efficiency is often ignored for system optimization based on simple thermodynamic analysis. The CO2 rejects heat at supercritical region. In this region, CO2 thermophysical properties such as enthalpy, specific heat are a strong function of pressure as well as temperature. CO2 may passes through the pseudo-critical temperature, and this phenomenon becomes more and more pronounced when the pressure is close to the critical pressure in this cooled process. So the normal procedure for the calculation of heat exchangers, which is based on terminal temperature difference, cannot be used in the heat exchangers where the pinch point will occur. Entropy generation may be reduced in heat exchangers by matching the temperature glides of the two fluids flowing through heat exchanger. In this paper, the COP of CO2 heat pump can be maintained at a high level basing on the design level of temperature glide matching.
