Résumé

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is recognized as one of the most suitable natural working fluids for compression heat pumps used to heat cold water. But the coefficient of performance (COP) for cooling is not high. This is because the temperature of the working fluid discharged from the compressor is much higher than that of the heat sink that is often the outside air. On the other hand, when a low temperature heat sink is available, cooling of air for air conditioning by CO2 heat pump can be efficiently realized. In this study, ground is assumed as the heat sink. When the low temperature heat sink is used and expansion at the temperature of 25°C is realized, the cooling COP is improved. Chart analysis shows COP values of 5.89 for single stage compression and 6.67 for two-stage compression with flash cycle. These values are very close to those obtained by the conventional system that uses R410A. The analysis shows that the CO2 heat pump can be used for air conditioning in summer by the use of low temperature heat sink.
