Résumé

A CO2 heat pump test rig was built up at the laboratory of SP. The test rig is built to be a flexible installation and can evaluate both heating and cooling applications and in both trans- and subcritical mode. The test rig has two compressors installed in series with the possibility to have one by-passed and run as a one-stage application. The test rig can be used to evaluate different components, such as evaporators, gas coolers, suction gas heat exchangers, expansion valves etcetera. It should be mentioned that this test rig is not developed to optimize the performance of a CO2 cycle, but to make a flexible test rig for evaluation of cycles and components. This paper focuses on a study of a transcritical air-to-air cycle used for cooling applications with capacity of up to 8 kW freezing (-25 °C). Testing in laboratory is a time consuming method and in order to predict and evaluate the behavior of a heat pump cycle when changing parameters and/or design, therefore there is a need for good and accurate mathematical simulation models. In this work a simulation model for a transcritical cycle was compiled using MatLab. This paper presents the accordance between the simulation models for components and the test results from the test rig.
