Absorption refrigeration and jet pumps: dicussion report.

Auteurs : EAMES I. W.

Résumé

The results of several research and development programmes to ways of improving the performance of the single-effect absorption cycle refrigerator by the introduction of a jet pump into the cycle have been described. The systems described were tested experimentally and found to operate satisfactorily, but with COP values less than anticipated. The primary cause of this was always due to the performance of the jet pump. A detailed theoretical and experimental investigation of jet pump design has shown that significant improvements in performance are possible. These results, if carried over to the various absorption cycles described in this paper would have a significant impact on the results. However, more recent jet pump research has also shown that it is possible in some applications, such as air conditioning, that the more simple jet pump refrigerator, using high molecular weight fluids, could out perform the single-effect absorption machines both on cost and efficiency for some applications.
