Résumé
This research examines the potential of solar-air dual-source heat pumps with the simultaneous use of the heat source evaporators to enhance performance and overcome the limitations of single-source heat pumps. Traditional alternating operation between sources demands a proper control with dynamic monitoring, plus it does not yield in most cases the best performance. This paper presents an experimental study of a dual-source CO2 heat pump operating in three modes: air-mode (using a finned-coil evaporator), solar-mode (using a PV-T evaporator), and simultaneous-mode (using both evaporators simultaneously). Experimental data show that simultaneous-mode improves evaporation temperature and coefficient of performance (COP) compared to air-mode and solar-mode. A numerical model, validated with experimental results, is used to predict steady-state and dynamic performance under variable conditions. Simulation results indicate that simultaneous-mode generally outperforms solar-mode, except for high solar irradiance and low ambient temperature. Additionally, the impact of PV-T collector area and solar irradiance on heat pump performance is discussed.
