Résumé

The model by Revellin and Thome (2008) for predicting the critical heat flux (CHF) during flow boiling of refrigerants in mini and microchannels is compared to an experimental database obtained from the literature for CO2. CHF data are deduced from the dryout vapour quality using a heat balance between the wall and the fluid. This database includes 32 points from 4 different laboratories. The theoretical model predicts 74.3% of the CO2 data within a plus or minus 30% error band. Moreover this model predicts 93.5% of an extended database including 5 different fluids (CO2, R134a, R245fa, R236fa and R113) within a plus or minus 30% error band. This would tend toward the conclusion that CHF of CO2 can be modelled as the other fluids. In addition, a parametric study on the mass velocity, the saturation temperature, the heated length and the diameter has been performed.
