Propriétés d'équilibre de coulis de glace basée sur deux types de solutions aqueuses.

Equilibrium properties of ice slurry based on two chosen types of aqueous solutions.

Résumé

Aqueous solutions are used as ice slurry in various applications. A key advantage with ice slurry technology is to benefit from the enthalpy change when ice melts. Phase diagrams giving the enthalpy as function of the additive mass fraction for an aqueous solution can help us see how the heat of melting of ice substantially increases the ability to take up heat from i.e. a cooling cabinet in a supermarket. For dimensioning purposes there is a need to estimate enthalpy differences. The material used for constructing such enthalpy phase diagrams as well as other thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions and ice can be used to generate various charts and tables with equilibrium values of ice mass fraction, enthalpies and ice slurry density. This paper gives such charts and tables for aqueous solutions of ethyl alcohol and propylene glycol. All the diagrams can be used in processes when the total additive mass fraction is unchanged as in a closed loop. The enthalpy diagrams can also be applied when adiabatically mixing fluids with different additive mass fractions. The mixing point will then be on a straight line between the two mixing conditions.
