Résumé

In carbon dioxide (R744) applications, the selection of a proper lubricant is crucial to prevent fatal damage to the refrigeration system. Thus, engineers selecting the lubricant for supercritical CO2 applications (scCO2) should have a full understanding of the scCO2-lubricant-mixture properties, as these properties can be dramatically different from those seen in conventional systems. Fluid properties in scCO2-lubricant-systems change significantly when changing from the miscible to the immiscible (two phase) system. The maximum solubility of scCO2, which depends on the oil type, is not yet fully understood. The focus of our work is on the investigation of the thermodynamic properties density, vapour pressure and viscosity to find an answer to the following question: Does a two-phase mixture consisting of an oil-rich phase and a supercritical CO2 rich phase arises from an one-phase mixture of scCO2 and oil in constant volume due to an increase in temperature?
