Résumé

The paper describes the results of a chemical heat pump reactor experimentation obtained with a thermochemical material composed of MgCl2 (70 wt%) dispersed on industrial carbon fibres (30-wt%). The average mass-power exceeded 1000 W per kg of material. Different operating conditions have been studied. In certain heat production experiments, the temperature of the material reached 180 °C. Cold production at -30 and -10 °C was investigated successfully. The MgCl2 material is highly porous and the contact between the salt and the carbon fibres is acceptable. The opening of the reactor, after 13 months of operation, revealed that the thermochemical material remained porous and did not form compacted zones; no metallic parts had sustained any corrosion or deformation.
