Advances on ammonia-water heat pumps for residential use.

Résumé

The development of absorption heat pumps for heating and cooling residences and small commercial establishments is reviewed. The ammonia-water units are based on a heat recuperating cycle, the GAX cycle. The methods used to approach the maximum efficiency of the cycle are discussed, together with the means of the transferring the absorption heat to be recuperated to the desorber. Recent test results are listed for comparison to a previous approach to maximum performance.
