Récupération et purification de xénon par adsorption.

Xenon recovery and purification via adsorption.

Résumé

A new xenon recovery process has been developed, enabled by a proprietary adsorbent innovation. The AgLiLSX adsorbent, originally developed for high-purity oxygen production, significantly surpasses the best-quoted literature capacity for xenon adsorption. Effective utilization of the superior adsorbent properties led to a process with 75% fewer unit operations found in the commercial xenon recovery process known in the art. In fact, the xenon was concentrated by a factor of 3000 in a single stage with most impurities reduced to below 250 ppm. The technology has been successfully scaled up from a small-scale lab unit to a commercial scale demonstration unit capable of producing in excess of 300,000 liters per year of xenon. Due to its inherent simplicity, this technology sets a new, worldwide benchmark for low-cost xenon production.
