Résumé

The control of flow of liquid in mini and micro channels is one of the most important problem in mini and micro heat exchangers used in cooling systems. One of the efficient methods of control of dielectric liquid flow in micro scale is that using the electric field. The EHD forces are used in many commercial devices, for example the EHD pumps or dielectrophoretic separators. An application of the EHD forces to controlling the liquid flow rate is presented in this paper. Authors concentrate on the dielctrophoresis effect, which could be strong and effective, especially in the inlet and outlet of the channel. The experimental and theoretical studies of the dielectrophoresis phenomenon in the micro scale are presented. The numerical calculations of potential distribution in micro channels are presented and discussed in this paper. The possible applications of dielectrophoresis in micro scale heat transfer equipment have also been discussed.
