VAV (variable air volume) devices are becoming more and more common parts of duct systems in buildings with forced ventilation. They offer possibility to use just exactly amount of the air which is needed at the time. Hidria is presented on the market for many years with own round and rectangular VAV units, which are well accepted and recognised. In the beginning of the last year was accepted decision to redesign the family of the rectangular VAV devices, with main goals: to have more compact length, to have the same length for different nominal dimensions (width x height) at multiblade damper VAV unit, and to have accuracy much higher as needed by legislation and regulations. First step was selection the airflow measuring principle in the VAV device. After this decision Hidria Institute Klima made a lot of studies and measurements to found optimal pick-up element for taking pressure difference (air flow can be calculated from pressure difference). Series of measurements were following to found optimal distance between damper blades and pick-up element. Hidria needed to make additional series of measurements (total pressure drop, sound emissions) for catalogue after founding optimal pick-up element and optimal distance between damper and pick-up elements. Hidria offers one of the most accurate rectangular VAV devices on the market today. This is a result of a many studies, measurements and team work made at Hidria Institute Klima.
