Simulation de la mise en route d'un refroidisseur utilisant un modèle au volume fini.

Simulation of a chiller start-up using a finite volume model.

Résumé

During quick start-ups (0 to 80 000 rpm in a few seconds), there is a big risk of lack of superheating in the evaporator leading to hazardous liquid suction in the compressor. This kind of problem cannot be addressed with experiments and needs computing help. The specificity of this work is to take into account the inertia of the fluid, which can no more be neglected, in the momentum equation written in local form in each component of the chiller. All properties are derived from the internal specific energy and density (even in liquid phase) which are determined locally by the integration of mass and energy equations applied to finite volumes of the components: evaporator, condenser and pipes. The simulations show that without proper control strategies of the electronic expansion valve, liquid can enter the compressor. Therefore, the model can help to design appropriate controllers.
