Résumé

The shift towards a larger proportion of renewable energy sources in electricity generation requires the development of sustainable methods for storing energy. In this context, the heat pump can function as an organic Rankine power cycle when operating in reversible mode, enabling the storage of electrical energy as thermal energy. In order to analyze the thermodynamics of the system, the study incorporates semi-empirical models of the scroll compressor and expander, which consider the intricate nature of these components. The primary focus of this study is to determine the optimal operating conditions for various built-in volume ratios of the scroll machine using different working fluids. The reversible heat and organic Rankine cycle (RHP-ORC) system is being analyzed and optimized by considering crucial factors such as storage temperature, pressure ratio, built-in volume ratio of the scroll device, as well as evaluating performance indicators like energy storage efficiency and energy storage density. Through energy and exergy analysis, it has been observed that diethyl ether outperforms R1233zd(E) in all operating conditions, albeit by a small margin. Specifically, diethyl ether exhibits a 20% higher power-to-power efficiency compared to R1233zd(E) at higher thermal reservoir temperatures of 160°C and lower storage temperatures of 150°C.
