Résumé
Residual heat recovery is among the existing alternatives to reduce the energy consumed in buildings. In hospitals, there is a high-energy demand related to DHW generation for the patients’ toilets, cleaning, washing, etc., which is then driven to the sewage at a relatively high temperature. Moreover, the also high cooling demand in summer derives in large amount of thermal energy dissipated to the ambient air through the condensation heat in the refrigeration machines. This work proposes preheating the DHW through the use of the residual heat related to these effluents, thus reducing the energy consumed with this aim.
Experimental measurements have been performed during summer period of 2019 at a public hospital, with the objective of identifying the temperature levels available at the greywater driven to the sewage. Also, the evolution of the condensing temperatures at two refrigeration machines have been measured. Results are analysed and discussed to propose different alternatives of preheating tap water for DHW and it is estimated the energy savings achievable and the related reduction in the CO2 emissions.
