Résumé

In this paper, the authors present their conceptual design of the cryogenic system for the Steady State Tokamak (SST-1). To realise the steady state operation, the magnet system has been designed with a 10 kA niobium-titanium superconducting cable. The magnet system and the current lead assembly need to be cooled to 4.5 K and the cryopanels of cryopumps to 3.8 K using a large capacity helium refrigerator. The proposed cool down, steady state operation and emergency operation scenarios are described. To isolate the refrigerator from the transient heat pulses arising in the magnet system, a separate main control dewar has been proposed. To shield the liquid-helium cooled systems from the 300 K radiation the requirement and distribution system for liquid nitrogen has also been discussed.
