Système fonctionnant à l'azote pour le transport des produits alimentaires.
Nitrogen conditioning system for produce transportation.
Auteurs : PEDOLSKY H., THURSTON S., GAVRYLOV R.
Résumé
Ukram Limited (USA) has developed an alternate refrigeration system to the present mechanical systems, presently the standard, for produce transportation. The system developed by the authors is totally environmentally friendly, virtually silent in its operation, and economically competitive with the existing mechanical systems. The system uses nitrogen (N2) as its cooling agent. N2 is totally benign and has absolutely no adverse effect on the atmosphere. It is also totally non-toxic, non-explosive, non-flammable, and does not support fire. The nitrogen conditioning system developed has virtually no moving parts; valve opening and closing is the only exception. This provides several major advantages. It provides a virtually silent operating system. It provides a system, which requires minimum maintenance. The only item which requires any on-going maintenance are the tanks, which require a revacuumization approximately every 7 years. The resultant system has an extremely long life (the authors estimate in excess of 20 years). Commercially, the nitrogen conditioning system is easily adapted to the use in refrigerated trailers, refrigerated trains and sea-borne refrigerated and frozen produce.
