Résumé

Low temperature, -50 °C, is needed for some kinds of fish, for freezing and transportation, and the three-phase point temperature of CO2, -56.5 °C (216.6 K) is suitable to be designed as the evaporating temperature. The advantage of this design is that the slurry of CO2 solid particles and liquid can be used as the secondary coolant and pumped to the user; CO2 solid particles with 7950 kJ/kmol melt and provide the cooling load. Due to the great latent heat, 180.7kJ/kg of CO2 solid particles transfer to liquid, and the flow of the slurry is small and the power of the pump can be reduced. In the paper, a CO2 two-stage low temperature refrigeration system was studied; the evaporating temperature of the low-temperature loop was equal to the three-phase point temperature of carbon dioxide.
