Résumé

Two different cooling technologies, magnetic refrigeration and CO2 hydrate slurry are presented in this paper. A CO2 hydrate slurry pilot system was designed and built. Through our study, the results have shown that hydrate creation through the heat exchanger by super cooling of the saturated CO2 solution is feasible. CO2 hydrate slurry displayed very good stability at steady state during. Continuous CO2 hydrate slurry formation and dissociation by heat exchanger was proved to be feasible. Optionally, based on the magnetocaloric effect and permanent magnets, an innovative reciprocating magnetic cooling machine was designed and built. To reach high temperature span, a modified AMR cycle, was implemented. Besides, in order to increase the thermodynamic performance of the developed machine by reducing the resulting magnetic force, a new configuration for the magnetocaloric refrigerant was proposed. The obtained results are encouraging showing that magnetic cooling is a promising technology for environment and energy savings.
