Transfert de chaleur dans les refroidisseurs d'air à ammoniac : recherches.

In search of heat transfer in ammonia air coolers.

Résumé

The heat transfer characteristics of ammonia air coolers are dependent on system type and differ for direct expansion, pumped or low pressure receiver refrigeration systems. Ammonia air coolers normally operate with heat fluxes of up to 2.5 kW/m2 at temperatures as low as -40 °C. Contaminants, particularly oil and water that circulate in ammonia systems, foul air cooler tubes by acting as an additional layer of thermal resistance and reducing their overall heat transfer performance. This paper identifies (from literature) existing correlations and approaches to ammonia boiling by reviewing them critically and identifying limitations in the present knowledge which hinder the design of ammonia air coolers. This work is part of a continuous project aimed at improving the understanding of ammonia air cooler design.
