Heat and fluid flow inside a household refrigerator cabinet.

Résumé

A computational model was employed to determine the three-dimensional heat and fluid flow inside a domestic refrigerator cabinet. The detailed differential equations describing the mass, momentum and energy conservation for the air were solved using a finite volume methodology. Steady state temperature fields and heat transfer were explored. The different heat transfer mechanisms were assessed, and radiation was found to play an important role in creating a more uniform temperature field inside the refrigerator cabinet. Turbulence was investigated and its effect was found to be less important in establishing the flow field pattern.
