Résumé

Transient heat transfer caused by large stepwise heat inputs to a flat plate located at the middle of an 40-mm wide and 100-mm long open rectangular duct, in a pool of He II was measured for bulk liquid temperatures from 1.8 to 2.1 K at atmospheric pressure. The channel gap of the duct was varied from 2 to 20 mm. The transient heat transfer for a stepwise heat input with the height higher than the steady-state critical heat flux is such that the quasi-steady state exists with a certain lifetime, and then rapidly changes to film boiling. The effect of the gap restriction on the lifetime was clarified.
