A study of the chimney effect of super high-rise buildings in winter.

Résumé

Often neglected by architects today, the chimney effect in high-rise structures is causing headaches that ultimately will disable the functioning of modern facilities and equipment installed. Technical solutions to this problem do not pose as a complex task, but call for careful work at all stages and in all areas: the architects will have to take the lead in paying greater attention to traditionally less important parts of the structures, followed by good cares during the construction as well as operational stages. As in the case of many other issues, the most effective means to resolve the chimney effect happens again to be as simple as tighter sealing of certain areas that somehow have not been done well, more proper arrangement of doors on the ground floor and better planning of the top-floor mechanic rooms.
