Résumé

A versatile experimental setup for measuring the magnetocaloric temperature change, ?Tad, of magnetocaloric materials has been designed and built at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). The facility is being used to develop a databank of the magnetocaloric effect of promising magnetic refrigerants. The setup is capable of handling powder and bulk samples of different shapes and characterizing them in a temperature range between 250 and 350 K. The facility was validated through measurements of ?Tad (for magnetization and demagnetization) of MnFe(P,As) samples with a first-order magnetic phase transition and Curie temperatures of 290.0, 284.7 and 313.7 K. Heating and cooling thermal cycles were performed.
