Résumé

A laboratory method for measuring the thermal conductivity of moist masonry units allowing free evaporation at the cold face has been developed. The data was found to be similar to that obtained by others in Standard mini-wall hot-box tests. Tests were also carried out on nominally dry and moist masonry units using the Standard guarded hot-plate method. The method was also modified in order to vary moisture contents without dismantling the apparatus. Results from units having up to about 3% v/v moisture content were found to relate to the oven-dry and not to the moist state. This was observed to have been due to a concentration of moisture at the cold plates leaving most of the material dry. Significant increases in conductivity were only observed at higher moisture contents.
