Résumé

Thermal storage with ice slurry has been widely applied in different scales of building construction and retrofit projects, especially those in Japan since early 90s. This paper deals with our recent installation in Ritz Carlton Plaza completed in 1997 in Japan. 31 units of the ice generators (260 kW each) with heat recovery were installed in different parts of the building. The total ice storage capacity is 80,750 kWh. This paper describes the system design and operation strategy, provides analysis of system performance in terms of the demand of electric power and the real energy consumption.
