Alternatives futures à faible PRP pour le froid, les pompes à chaleur et le conditionnement d’air afin de réduire le quota européen de gaz fluorés.

Future low GWP alternatives in refrigeration, heat pumps and air conditioning to reduce the European F-gas quota.

Résumé

This paper is the consequence of a multi-year study investigating low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants to fulfil the European F-Gas Regulation requirements and follow up the greenhouse gas hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) reductions established by the Paris Agreement and Kigali Amendment, respectively. New single fluids added since 2013, and the most recent blends (mixtures) are examined in their role of alternatives to the most used HFCs as the most representative 3rd generation refrigerants: R-134a, R-404A (R- 507A), R-410A, and R-245fa. R-1130(E), R-1336mzz(Z), R-1233zd(E), R-1224yd(Z), R-1336mzz(E), R-13I1 and R-1132a are the new molecules included in the ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 34 (both 2016 and 2019), most of them with higher critical temperatures (usable in high-temperature heat pumps HTHPs), but normal boiling points (NBPs) close to ambient temperatures. Moreover, some of them are chlorine molecules and has a particular value of ODP. Regarding recent blends, R-466A, R-467A, R-468A, R-469A, R-470A, R-470B, and R-515B, included in Addenda ASHRAE Std 34-2019, are analyzed in deep and compared to blends included in the 2016 version. Among them, R-515B highlights as a non-flammable alternative to R-134a, which offers an intermedium GWP between this HFC and the hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) R-1234ze(E).
