Résumé

In the process of air conditioning of rooms, special attention needs to be paid to the air distribution methods. Many methods of air distribution have been developed over the past decades. Selecting the proper system for a particular case is always a very complex task. There are many factors that an engineer should take into consideration: building/room occupancy schedule, number of occupants, and exposure to outdoor conditions. Nowadays HVAC experts have a wide range of software solutions to solve these problems and give adequate ideas for customers. The using of these software packages eliminates the need to construct expensive test facilities. There are computer programs capable of calculating heat losses and gains, required power of the system, air change rates, air humidification need, etc. Other software solutions have a module that uses computational fluid dynamics and is capable of showing 3D picture of air distribution in a room, which allows an expert to see the critical points where temperature or air velocity is out of the per-mitted limits. After localizing these critical points where the comfort of occupants is not provided, an expert can choose between different solutions, such as underfloor air distribution, parapet indoor units, and ceiling air distribution.
