Résumé

A three-dimensional multiphase CFD model has been developed based on VOF method to perform a comparative analysis of flow boiling heat transfer characteristics of R1234ze(E) and isobutane (R600a) in a horizontal minichannel. The simulations have been performed for the following margins of commonly used operating parameters: saturation temperature (30°C), wall heat flux (55 and 65 kW/m2) and mass flux (375 - 870 kg/m2s). The numerical outcomes have been successfully validated with the experimental measurements of Xu et al. (2021). Results showed that the heat transfer coefficient increases as the vapor quality is raised. However, the magnitude of this increase depends on the refrigerant used. It is also observed that the heat transfer coefficient is more sensitive to the wall heat flux than the mass flux. Finally, it is interesting to note that the heat transfer coefficient of R600a is higher than that of R1234ze(E) under similar operating conditions. The difference between the HTC values of R600a and R1234ze(E) is more significant for higher vapor qualities.
