Résumé

This paper focuses on the transient performance of the R290 and R410A heat pumps (HPs) during startup process at low-temperature environment. Capacity, power, pressure and temperature were measured and compared during the cold startup processes of the R290 and R410A HPs. The results show that capacity of R410A HP reached 80% at about 9 min and the R290 did not rise to 80% at 18 min, when ambient temperature was 2℃. The variations of the thermal parameters illustrates that the migration of refrigerant can be the key factor that resulted in the worsen transient performance of R290 HP. The lower discharge temperature and smaller charge amount of R290 result in the refrigerant enriching in compressor and the insufficient liquid at electronic expansion valve (EEV) inlet. Additionally, two control methods were explored to improve the transient performance of R290 HP. Results show that the high compressor frequency improved the capacity to a certain extent while the control of the distribution of refrigerant before startup resulted in the 'oil blockage' of expansion device.
