Résumé

The transfer function method recommended by ASHRAE could be considered the most modern tool available for analysing the thermal behaviour of a building. Credit went to Mitalas for his application of the Z-transform method, the well-known algorithm for heat transfer problems, even if his own way of applying it has not always been entirely orthodox. The heat transfer method's theoretical bases are examined in the paper to conciliate Mitalas' approach with the procedure deriving from strict mathematical statement.
